Senior Manufacturing Engineer

Support the manufacturing of commercial products and pilot production to ensure operational goals are met for yield, quality and cost.  Troubleshoot  and correct equipment, tooling and processes that are not performing to requirements.  Partner with Research and Development on the successful introduction of new products including all facets of design control, design for manufacturing and lean manufacturing practices.  Must have the ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast paced environment, solid understanding and practical experience with process validation and ability to work cross-functionally to achieve corporate objectives.


  • 5 years of experience supporting the development and commercialization of medical devices
  • Bachelor degree in Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering


  • Steerable catheter design/development/support
  • Knowledge of polymer extrusion, molding and bonding
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks


Senior Medical Device Development Engineer

Apply broad engineering knowledge to the design of new product, product enhancements, and manufacturing processes per corporate goals.


  • Develop new intellectual property for novel medical devices supporting BioCardia’s goals
  • Manage projects through the design control process from concept, development, verification and validation as required.
  • Identify and implement improvements to the design of products that have been released or are in development.
  • Develop and execute testing utilizing protocols or develop new ones as needed.
  • Analyze results and generate written reports.
  • Manage technicians and temporary workers as needed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of concepts, designs, drawings, and processes.
  • Maintain current knowledge of clinical use techniques of BioCardia products to understand the impact of product defects.
  • Maintain knowledge of state of the art manufacturing processes for medical devcies
  • Oversee outside vendors, consultants, and service providers as required.
  • Maintain QSR systems in coordination with the Quality Assurance functions.
  • Provide support in the resolution of product complaints and/or safety issues.
  • Work with other engineering, manufacturing, clinical affairs, sales and marketing, and quality assurance staff to coordinate pilot production of new products.
  • Support company goals and objectives, policies and procedures, QSR, and FDA regulations.


  • Completed B.S. degree in mechanical or biomedical engineering from accredited institution
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical medical device development
  • Experience in catheter development and manufacturing required
  • Adept with Solidworks, comfortable modeling complex assemblies and ability to create drawings conforming to GD&T
  • Experience with metal and plastic component design requirements and manufacturing techniques
  • Experience in complex bench testing, testing instrumentation, and machine shop tools


  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with MS Office products
  • Direct experience working with key opinion leaders in cardiovascular catheter space
  • Comfortable working in animal lab environment for product validation
  • Experience supporting clinical cases in the US


Clinical Research Associate

BioCardia is looking for a Clinical Research Associate to support management of a cardiovascular stem cell pivotal clinical trial in the US. The suitable candidate will work under minimum supervision and contribute technical and clinical operations expertise (including onsite and remote monitoring of clinical sites and core facilities).

In addition, the candidate will assist in the training of prospective investigators in the pivotal clinical trial and support clinical cases. Travel is anticipated to be approximately 30-60%. The candidate may potentially participate in the planning and execution of other clinical trials as well.


  • The appropriate candidate has a Bachelorís degree or equivalent in basic or life sciences, or a related field. An advanced degree or equivalent in life sciences or health care is preferred.


  • It is preferred that the candidate have experience with device-related clinical and/or cardiovascular trials with 5 years of experience as Clinical Research Associate at a minimum.
